Climate Justice. Key Populations First.

Climate change is more than rising temperatures or extreme weather, it is about people. It is about families losing their livelihoods, young people watching opportunities disappear, and communities fighting to survive while being left out of the decisions that shape their future. Founded in 2019, AKPA International (Alliance for Key Population Advocacy) was born from a simple belief: those most affected by the climate crisis deserve to be at the center of the solution. We work alongside marginalized and structurally excluded communities across Sub-Saharan Africa, creating opportunities through climate education, sustainable livelihoods, advocacy, and community-led innovation. Rather than speaking for people, we empower them to lead the conversations and actions that define their future. From our headquarters in Kampala, Uganda, to our growing regional presence, we are building a movement where climate justice is inclusive, practical and rooted in dignity. Because protecting the planet begins with protecting the people who call it home.
