Ekitoi Skills Caravan Recognized Among Outstanding Youth-Led Innovations at World Population Day 2026
AKPA International is proud to announce that our flagship innovation, the Ekitoi Skills Caravan, was recognized as one of the outstanding youth-led innovations during the 2026 World Population Day celebrations, hosted by UNFPA Uganda.
This recognition celebrates innovative solutions that are addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing young people and communities across Uganda. For AKPA, it is an affirmation of our belief that climate action must be inclusive, community-driven, and accessible to those who are often left behind.
The Ekitoi Skills Caravan was developed to bridge the gap between climate resilience, education, and livelihood opportunities for underserved communities in the Karamoja region. By bringing climate-smart skills, entrepreneurship training, and practical learning directly to pastoralist and remote communities, the Caravan ensures that geography and limited infrastructure are no longer barriers to opportunity.

Being recognized on World Population Day reinforces the importance of investing in young people as leaders of sustainable development. It also highlights the growing need for innovative approaches that respond to the realities of climate change while creating pathways to economic empowerment and resilience.
While this recognition is an important milestone, we see it as the beginning rather than the destination. It strengthens our commitment to working alongside communities, partners, and young people to develop solutions that are locally driven, sustainable, and inclusive.
